Structure
The
Foothills Advocacy In Motion Society (AIM) is a non-profit, charitable
organization dedicated to the inclusion of persons with developmental
disabilities within the Municipal District of Foothills. The Society was
originally incorporated under the Societies Act of Alberta on June 2 of
1980. The Foothills AIM
Society provides structured programs and support services to adults with
developmental disabilities. Opportunities
for meaningful participation and the promotion of quality of life is
what this Society is all about. The
Society also provides a resource and referral service to the general
public to further promote the awareness and inclusion of all persons
regardless of affliction.
A volunteer Board of
Directors governs the Society’s affairs.
These committed and dedicated volunteers oversee the direction
and operations of the Society. The
Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) Calgary Region Community
Board is the Society’s principal funder.
Each year the Society is left with a shortfall in its funding and
revenues generated from the sale of goods and services, fundraising
initiatives, donations and various grant sources are accessed to offset
this annual shortfall.
