Brain Injury Services at Supported Lifestyles specializes in post-acute
brain injury rehabilitation and is committed to providing a wide range
of rehabilitation supports, services and programs to survivors of
traumatic brain injury. We focus on customized individual support with
an emphasis on quality of life, independence, community integration and
personal choice.

other disabilities. Based in Toronto.

Offers resources for information, research, entertainment and life
skills for people with disabilities. Internet home site for Abilities
magazine, Canada’s foremost cross-disability lifestyle magazine.

Active Living Alliance for Canadians With a Disability:
Alliance of individuals, agencies and national
associations that facilitates and coordinates partnerships among network
members. With a stated mission to enable Canadians with disabilities to
lead active, healthy lives, any organization, community or individual who
embraces these goals is welcome to join the network.

Developmental Disabilities Resource Centre of Calgary (DDRC):
Non-profit organization dedicated to including people
with developmental disabilities into the community, facilitating personal
choice and building the community’s capacity to include persons with
developmental disabilities.

The Arc of the United States:
American
nation-wide grassroots organization with 140,000 members affiliated
through 1000 state and local chapters. Dedicated to promoting and
improving supports and services for people with developmental disabilities
and their families, and fosters research and education.

AAMR (American Association on Mental Retardation):
Founded
in 1876, the AAMR promotes progressive policies, sound research, effective
practices and universal human rights for people with intellectual
disabilities.

The Association for the Neurologically Disabled of Canada:
A Canadian non-profit charitable organization that provides
home-based functional rehabilitation programs to individuals with
neurological disabilities.

The Canadian Association of Independent Living Centres:
Working to empower people with disabilities and remove barriers so
that people with disabilities can assume risks, make choices, and
contribute to society.

Alberta Committee of Citizens with Disabilities:
Consumer-directed organization, actively promoting full
participation in society for Albertans with disabilities. Provides
advocacy and referral services, and is open to any individual or
organization. Library/Resource Centre available.

Calgary Progressive Lifestyles Foundation:
Provides support to individuals with a wide range of
disabilities, including acquired brain injury, developmental, physical
and geriatrics.

Alberta Association for Community Living (AACL):
Family-based organization, Working in partnership with
governments, schools, employers, services and community organizations
to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities.

Persons with Developmental Disabilities:
Community governance structure operating across
Alberta, with a mandate to support adults with developmental
disabilities to be fully included in community life. Support areas
include direct service and community living, employment, community
access, and specialized community supports.

Calgary Health Region: Support and Services for Children with Special
Needs:
Provides early intervention services for families in
the Calgary area who are dealing with a diagnosed or undiagnosed
developmental delay in a child under three years old.

The Vocational and Rehabilitation Research Institute:
Non-profit research and service agency offering
employment, community living, education and recreation services to
people with disabilities in the Calgary area.
