Canadian Centre on Disability Studies:
Consumer-directed, university-affiliated centre dedicated to research,
education and information dissemination on disability issues. Promotes
full and equal participation of people with disabilities on a local,
national and international level in partnership with the disability
community, the corporate sector, the academic world and government.

Alberta Committee of Citizens with Disabilities:
Consumer-directed
organization, actively promoting full participation in society for
Albertans with disabilities. Provides advocacy and referral services, and
is open to any individual or organization. Library/Resource Centre
available.

United Nations: Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights:
Declaration on the Rights of Mentally Retarded Persons:
Presented
in 1971, this address to the General Assembly lays out a framework of
human rights for persons with developmental disabilities.
